Oh. My. Gawd.

So with the new cell phone laws in Ohio, it's illegal to use your hands (i.e. hold the phone) to talk on a cell phone while driving.

But it's perfectly legal to use your hands to TEXT MESSAGE while driving!!!

I find that very disturbing. Talking on a cell phone, I feel okay with. I do not want to be driving next to the person who is TEXT MESSAGING WHILE DRIVING!

Oh. My. Gawd.

I love texting, but I could never do that and drive at the same time. I have trouble changing CDs, for heaven's sake!

What is your Borders schedule like nowadays?

Yeah, I've heard that's all right here as well (I'm going to have to look that up to make sure...it doesn't even make sense to me!). But only hands free talking on cell phones while driving, as of July 1st.

If hands free is what is supposed to be accomplished by this, you'd think they would have included texting, or just made a blanket type of thing that cell phones may only be used in a hands free manner!

I am so with you! People who text and drive make me just crazy. Listen just kill yourselves ok, not innocents!

hahaha, its been like that in jersey for a while now. I have more trouble getting the CD in the little slot than talking on the phone. And I have trouble keeping the bluetooth on my ear anyway. It gets caught in my hair, moves around so I can't hear etc. Usually I just hold it in place...so tell me why I can't just hold my phone?
Personally, I think anyone who can't talk and drive at the same time shouldn't be driving at all!
Note; most accidents involving cells phones and driving are men.

LMAO that's pretty funny.

Oh my, I have got to find out what the new law is in CA. Starting July 1, we can't drive and talk on a cell. Well, we can if we're using a blue tooth. But, I don't know about texting. Egads!

The Dark Scribe 6/13/2008 08:01:00 AM

I took a look and it appears that talking and driving is still okay, as long as you have hands-free equipment. No mention of texting, so, effectively, it's allowable.

Which is absolutely absurd.

Chicago passed that law a couple years ago but I can't tell you how many times I'd see cops drive by while talking on their phones. Not a good example!

One trick we figured out is to talk on speakerphone, then you can still use your hands to drive.

Definitely seems screwy.
