Late-Night Thoughts

image I’m up late working on my speech for the Spring Recital. Which is silly, because as soon as I mention my seniors, I’m going to start crying and have to amend my speech anyway.

I’m going to be dreadfully busy this week, but I wanted to leave you with this bit to chew on:

O seeker,
These thoughts have such power over you,
From nothing you become sad,
From nothing you become happy.

You are burning in the flames
But I will not let you out
until you are fully baked,
fully wise,
and fully yourself.

I love that poem! I wish I could be there to hear you speak. I'd probably cry along with you.

I do too, Edie! LOL, I don't think you'd want to hear me speak. I am truly just not great at it, LOL. :-)

Robin 5/16/2009 11:40:00 AM

You're such an awesome teacher, Spy! I bet your speech will rock! It must be so nice to see your students graduate and have such a wonderful talent to take with them through life.

Ello 5/16/2009 11:59:00 AM

Awww you are sweet! And I love that poem!

Eric Mayer 5/16/2009 12:28:00 PM

Good luck with your speech.

And as for the poem...well...alas, I guess I have always been half baked.

(You knew I was going to say that....)

LaDonna 5/16/2009 05:39:00 PM

Spy, I love the poem too! And you have such a special vocation, and I smile thinking of the lives you've touched.

Enjoy your recital!

spyscribbler 5/16/2009 08:14:00 PM

I don't know about awesome teacher, Robin, LOL. I'm thrilled for both of them: they're both going to dream colleges. But selfishly? The studio won't feel the same!

spyscribbler 5/16/2009 08:15:00 PM

I love that poem, too, Ello! It fits, lately!

spyscribbler 5/16/2009 08:15:00 PM

Thanks, Melanie! Last year, I fell flat on my face. Like, seriously. Bam. Nose to floor.

spyscribbler 5/16/2009 08:16:00 PM

Hah, Eric! LOL! I shoulda guessed!

spyscribbler 5/16/2009 08:17:00 PM

LaDonna, I don't know about that, but I'm so glad to have spent time with them all!

Marcia Colette 5/18/2009 07:57:00 PM

Good luck with the speech. But more important, have fun with it. I know I would.

And as for the poem, please don't take this the wrong way, but I couldn't help but laugh when I got to:

"You are burning in the flames
But I will not let you out
until you are fully baked,
fully wise,
and fully yourself."

For some reason, I started thinking about the little bun in my oven and how much I wish he/she would stop with the heartburn. :-)

Oh Marcia! I read your comment in my email as I was preparing for the recital, and it made me smile BIG!

You are my absolute hero. I think you're the coolest.
